UGAAS

The Process Technology Associate of Applied Science (AAS) program prepares students for careers operating and monitoring industrial process systems in energy, petrochemical, chemical, manufacturing, and related industries. Students develop technical knowledge and hands-on skills in process operations, industrial safety, process instrumentation, process equipment, process systems, fluid mechanics, quality control, and troubleshooting. Through classroom instruction, laboratory experiences, and applied learning activities, students learn to monitor and control industrial processes, interpret operating procedures, identify and respond to process issues, and apply safe and efficient operating practices. Graduates are prepared for employment as process technicians, process operators, production technicians, plant operators, and related positions in refineries, chemical plants, manufacturing facilities, and other industrial environments. The program supports regional workforce needs in Southeast Louisiana’s industrial and energy sectors and includes opportunities for applied workplace learning through a Process Technology Internship. The AAS is the highest credential in the PTEC stackable pathway and may be completed after earning the Process Technology Support Technician Certificate of Technical Studies (CTS) and/or Process Technology Technical Diploma. Students interested in accelerated completion may qualify for the Process Technology AAS Fast Track option.
