The Carpentry program prepares students to enter the workforce as an entry-level carpenters or construction laborers.
In Introduction to Construction, students will learn construction basics as well as construction safety. Students will earn an NCCER Core Certification and OSHA-10.
In Carpentry 1, students will learn residential construction framing as well as plan and document reading and be assessed in their knowledge through a series of written and hands-on performance exams. Students will earn an NCCER Carpentry 1 certification.
In Carpentry 2, students will learn to perform finish work and envelope systems and be assessed in their knowledge through a series of written and hands-on performance exams. Students will earn an NCCER Carpentry 2 certification.
The Student Learning Outcomes for this program are:
- Students understand the basics of the construction industry and carpentry field in particular.
- Students demonstrate proficiency with all basic tools and all carpentry tools.
- Students build a basic carpentry structure that includes a floor, walls, roof, and steps.
- Students understand and comply with basic safety for the construction industry
- Students understand and utilize basic construction blueprints for building.
